In August of 2010 our club was privileged to receive some of the wood from two 150-200 year old American Chestnut trees that had died at Arbor Lodge. Dr. Scott Josiah , a member of our club, made arrangements to acquire some of this rare wood for our club . In exchange for the wood our club agreed that once we had turned the wood, several of the turned pieces would be put on permanent display at the Nebraska Forest Service headquarters on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus and at Arbor Lodge. The project is now nearing completion and in December the pieces to be displayed will be selected. While each of us would like to keep this piece of history, we would all be honored to have our work chosen for display.
