The November meeting of the Great Plains Woodturning Club was called to order at 7PM by Terry Savage. The minutes of the last meeting were read and the treasures report given. Terry talked about the excellent turnout for the Rudy Lopez seminar and asked for everyone’s opinion of the program.

We had a bet with the Loess Hills Club on who would have the most members sign up for the seminar. We won the bet and received a check for $100.00 from the Loess Hills Club. The overall reaction to Rudy’s program was outstanding and many of the long time turners in the club noted that they learned something new from Rudy like hollowing the inside before shaping the outside of the bowl. We are all in favor of hosting another joint seminar next year with the Loess Hills club. Terry made note of the fact that we had an outstanding show and tell, tonight, possibly the best one this year. Several people brought goblets and bowls that they had turned using the new skills learned from Rudy. Stan Harder from the Loess Hills club gave a very informative presentation on dust collection and the dangers of wood dust. As an added note, you can find the links to the wood dust toxicity documents in the resources section of this site. The program left us all with a lot to think about. The meeting adjourned at 9:45.
