I was wishing I had a larger faceplate today for a project I was working on and this is how I solved the problem.

I had some 1″ MDF around from making my sanding disk so I cut a 3″ round and a 6″ round. I glued the two together and then used several screws to make sure the two were securely fastened together. I drilled and tapped a 1×8 hole 1 ” deep in the 3 ” block and then drilled 8 evenly spaced holes about 1 inch in from the edge of the around the of the 6 ” disk.

I might not use this on a heavy or long piece of wood without tail stock support but it worked great for what I needed.
