The December meeting of the Great Plains Woodturning Club was called to order at 7PM by Terry Savage. The minutes of the last meeting were read and the treasures report given. Despite the closeness to the Christmas holiday we had a good attendance for the meeting and an excellent show and tell.

Two representatives of the Arbor Foundation attended with Dr. Scott Josiah and after reviewing all of the pieces created from the American Chestnut wood we received, they selected a Vase turned by Curt Norman and a Bowl turned by Theo Alles to be placed on display at Arbor Lodge and the Nebraska Forest Service Office. This brings to a close our year long chestnut project.

Terry suggested that we consider a fixed curriculum for next years programs beginning with wood selection and preparation of turning blanks to bowl basics, spindle basics, sharpening tools, hollow forms etc. That would leave us with 3 or 4 months that we would need to select a topic and presenters. Something to think about.

W hen the final numbers were crunched from the Rudy Lopez event we made a profit of $201.00 plus the $100.00 bet winnings, for a total of $301.00.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all.
